After our bargain New Years Eve flight with Thai Airways we arrived in Perth on the south west coast. Ironically we were staying in “Miss Mauds’s Swedish hotel“. Largest breakfast buffet ever!
Perth is very affluent, modern and the harbour and the sea never feels far away. We ate splendidly with loads of fish and seafood.

Our most exciting moments were on our Rockingham Wild Encounter “Wild swimming with the Dolphins” outing based two hours drive south of Perth along the coast, in truth, not the most beautiful section of coastline but the dolphins seem to love the bay off Rockingham beach and just swim up to the boat to play!
Basically, the instructor with a small jet pack led us out from the steps at the back of the boat holding onto the person in front in a line and the dolphins swim around you, sometimes close enough to touch, certainly there are moments when you feel you feel they look you in the eye.
