We drove back up to Perth along the coast, stopping along away at a “natural spa“ a gap in of a rocky shoreline where on occasion a huge blast of water would gush through onto those waiting below, some of whom, when we were there, had wholly underestimated the power of the water ; which was all very funny!.
Our flight to Adelaide was painless though the 2 1/2 hour time difference a pain.
Our accommodation was the Adina Hotel apartments in the old State building, all very grand and a great central location.
We had to rearrange your schedule as our trip to Kangaroo Island was called off due to most of the island being alight!.
Ironically, it started to rain when we were there but too late for our trip. There was quite a sense of foreboding given the dramatic changes to the environment from the fires and the resulting smoke pollution.
The rain encouraged us to visit the museums and galleries at least. We also visited the Botanical Gardens and the famed but rather disappointing “Central Market“ before a late evening “Film in the Park“ wrapped up in blankets and fleeces on a decidedly chilly night.
The locals could not get over the unusual weather.

On our last day we caught the tram for a 35 minute trip to Glenelg Beach, an attractive seaside resort, passing through the pretty suburbs along the way.
The beach was a hive of activity with a market, a Greek festival including “the Blessing of the Cross " in the sea where the local Greek young men ( with the young Greek girls looking on ) race into the sea to be the 1st to catch a Cross thrown there by a Greek orthodox priest after a short religious service.
