Cradle Mountain 2

After our long day we slept like logs, enjoying the sound of the rain on our tin roofs in our little cabin, the weather front having arrived. A lazy morning spent in the Park's Discovery Centre with it's museum and audio visual histories.
In the afternoon as the weather improved we walked the low level Boardwalk Trail, rather unremarkable until we came across our first wallaby, unexpectedly, for  both for us and it, as we all stood stock still, unblinking for what seemed minutes on end. We saw a relative of his, a pademelon as well though he bounded away too soon for me to photograph him.

When we had arrived after we sweltered on our hikes, we had noted with amusement that the previous week's cabin occupants had used the wood burner in the cabin but by now the temperatures had plummeted and we were glad of it.

In the evening we visited their Tasmanian Devil Centre, with a very instructive, laconic guide. We were there for the evening feed and the devils lived up to their reputation for the most appalling cries and shrieks with vicious attacks on all around them. Most entertaining.
